The gold mask
This golden mask was found covering the head and shoulders of King Tut's mummy and is perhaps the most famous egyptian antiquity ever found in history. This mask is also a great example of the art of the strategic and detailed goldsmith.
Is made of solid gold, inlaid with rare semi-precious stones and decorated with transparent colored glass
paste. The face of the Gold Mask portrays the king's actual portrait.
Two protective animals, the cobra and vulture, are incorporated on the gold forehead, and
the king wears the Nemes head-dress, the false beard of the gods and a broad
inlaid collar.
