The goddess selket
The internal organs of the king had to be placed in the Canopic Chest, which was enclosed in a strong and elaborate wooden gilded chest. Each side of the Chest was protected by a statue of a goddess known to be the Goddess Selket.
Above Selket wears her emblem of a scopion on her head. This figure of her appears to be very naturalistic, her arms stretched out to protect the sturdy chest and its contents, and her head is slightly inclined to one side.
